A book that should be made into a movie ASAP - Pan Lodowego Ogrodu by Grzędowicz

by Lidia F.

Pan lodowego ogrodu is a book published in tomes since 2005 - 2012 by a Polish printing house called Fabryka Snów. A science-fiction strongly rooted in a classical fantasy books genre should be made into a movie immediately! Why?
Because it's amazing for God's sake.

But first. When will somebody finally translate it!?

"Pan lodowego ogrodu" is typical food for all those hungry nerds, who just can't wait to indulge in another mystical world. It is indeed a peculiar book, because unlike some books that we can put into a bag of: futuristic, classical, science-fiction.... here we have a pro ble mo!

The book is an example of pure eclectism. It's like a collage of what we know - our current times - which is mostly reflected by the main character's thoughts and memories from childhood; future - because the civilization he comes from is far more superior than hours - it allows traveling between distant planets, putting implants in the brain that enhance human abilities, high tech, etc; and a very mediocre, not to say, slow people - resembling our Middle Ages - who inhabit a planet that Vuko was sent on.
Add to that the fact that there is magic in the air - for songwriters and gods, and that this kind of magic requires a lot of mechanical and scientific knowledge.
The main character Vuko is a trained assassin sent to another planet to rescue some scientists. He is half Croatian, half Polish and he definitely loves to swear in Finnish too ;)

Sounds already mindblowing? Well, in his 4 tomes Grzędowicz had also space for a subtopic which we learn through the whole book! And that's a mysterious story of a young prince who travels across his world - and what has nothing to do with our main character described before.

The action takes us to places of all sorts, We are thrown from luxurious palaces, laboratories, mansions to some poor conditions, we learn how it is to be a slave, to be captured, killed, and trying to hide for years.

Indeed - this book is something else. It involves around the topic of contradictory forces of nature such as ice/fire - but it is nothing like what you have already read in GOT  ;)  Story about friendships, murders, fights, amazing futuristic machines, power of magic, power of the brain, and lots of creatures that you didn't know existed :) Seasoned with some good humor and some touching moments.

I strongly advise somebody to translate it to English! And make a lot of money of putting it to big screens or at least silver screens. You liked the Witcher? You liked GOT? You like Lem, or Tolkien?

You thought u know fantasy - and nothing more can be invented?

Guess what - it was and you have to learn about this world, coz I know you will love it!

btw it was already made into a board game so we are waiting for more!

And guys, I am not a fan of sci-fi! ;) But this one is GOOD!
